Managing news updates

Each news update must belong to a news category.  These news categories can be displayed on your website or viewed in news readers using RSS.  An example news category is "Recent Events".

 

To manage your news updates go to "News" and click "News Updates".

Next click "edit news updates" next to the desired category.  If there are no categories to choose from, then create a new one by clicking "Create category".  For more information please see "Managing news categories".

Now you may manage your news updates.

To create a news update, click "Create news update".

To change the title, description, or display properties of an existing news update, click "properties".

To create a more information page, click "more info".

To move a news update up or down in the list, click "move up" or "move down".

To delete an existing news update, click "delete".

 

 

Example: Creating a news update

 

First, click "edit news items" for the desired category.

Next, click "Create news item".

Now enter the news item's properties.

Title:

the title of the news item

Description:

the description of the news item

Display with:

select whether you want this item to always be displayed with the current items, always be displayed with the archived items, or be displayed with the current or archived items depending upon the date.  If the later is selected, you will have to enter the "Current as of" and "Archive as of" dates.

Current as of:

the day the item will begin to be displayed with the current news items (MM DD YYYY).

Archive as of:

the day the item will begin to be displayed with the archived news items (MM DD YYYY).

Display:

select "Yes" if you would like to show this news item, otherwise select "No".

Image:

select the image to go along with the news item.

When finished, click "Save Changes".
